Notes on regular diamonds

The present set of notes is to be viewed as a technical appendix to the second chapter of the paper titled ``Charged sectors, spin and statistics in quantum field theory on curved spacetimes'' by D. Guido, R. Longo, J.E. Roberts and R. Verch (preprint math-ph/9906019). Here we prove the statement that given any ``regular diamond'' region (defined in these notes) in a globally hyperbolic spacetime together with a causally disjoint point, then there is another regular diamond region containing both the first regular diamond and the causally disjoint point. The present version of these notes is not intended for journal publication; a version containing improved results is in preparation.
